Sundew, (genus Drosera), genus of carnivorous plant species in the family Droseraceae. 
 
Drosera has over 152 species, and can be found in several different habitats with nutrient-poor soil, including bogs, fens, or sandy acidic soil.  Depending on their native climate, some drosera go through winter 'hibernation/dormancy' in cold weather, others grow underground tubers to survive droughts, and others flower year-round. The leaves are covered with short sticky-sweet plant hairs ("trichomes") which attract and furl around insects, after which the trichomes (or 'tentacles') digest them with enzymes.  Drosera roots are often weak, and serve only to absorb water.  All other nutrition is obtained from carnivory.

The flowers are bisexual, include colours such a white, pink, and orange, and produce many seeds when pollinated.
